DIGITAL SCORES FOR

TOMORROW'S ENSEMBLES

What is Syncphonia?

Syncphonia is two free Apps which help students to play in ensembles using iPads and Bluetooth networking. The Conductor controls the tempo and parts are instantly shared across the ensemble. Performers choose their own instrumental or vocal part. Free bundle of 36 scores including GCSE and A level set works. Users can upload their own .xml scores from Sibelius files. Watch the video here. User Guide here.

Syncphonia is born from our passion for making music together, and recognition that modern technologies can support that experience in new ways.

This networked app was developed by a team of musicians. We believe that everyone should experience the pleasure and value of ensemble performance, but we also know the challenges involved in playing as a group.

Syncphonia was carefully co-created with conductors and performers, using contemporary technologies to minimise those frustrations, and maximise enjoyment. The current bar and (optionally) beat are highlighted, so players can’t get lost, pages are turned automatically, and new parts can be distributed in seconds over a wireless network.

Testimonials

Testimonials

"They were quiet, they were engaged. The teaching stage is very effective — it’s really good, especially when you are sight reading. I think it will have a big impact with teenage and younger players. You don’t need the teachers to go round pointing stuff out. Very efficient."

— Peter Davison, Head of Music, Dorothy Stringer School, Brighton
